Sunday stamps #103

The last one for this year: "In which we are noting the passing of the old year, and anticipating the new."

This was the stamp issued when the Euro became our currency in 2002. So it marked the end of the Schilling and somewhat a new era.

This is the back of the stamp with old Schilling coins and some of the

people that could be found on the coins or notes.

Happy new year, Sunday stamp friends and visitors! May it mark a wonderful new beginning!

This week we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Sunday stamps. I am showing the stamps from this card for the Sunday stamps post, so I thought I'll put the matching card in this calendar post.

So, wow, Sunday stamps has this big, huge, awesome anniversary!

HAPPY 100th SUNDAY STAMP DAY!!!

For this week, the task was to post some special stamps. I decided on these stamps from Vatican. They do not seem to be special, beside the fact that they are from a rare country (as we say on postcrossing), but to me they are quite special for a personal reason.

The stamps were on a card from Vatican and they were sent by my mother-in-law. She loved to travel and always used to send us some postcards from her travels. It was from one of the last vacations she was able to take. Now, due to illness, she can no longer travel, so the cards hold a special meaning to us.
