Adopt a bee

First of all, kind of a disclaimer: This is not an advertising posting, I only show you an ad-card I have received. And I solely show it because I like the card and the idea.

I have to confess that I love innocent smoothies. Once a year they invite people to knit small hats for the smoothie bottles anf dor each sold smoothie that wears a hat, they donate a certain amount to charity. I am not good in knitting, but I always try to buy the hat-smoothies.

The card below shows the current project - Adopt a bee. The card says "Invite a bee to dinner" and is part of their new campaign to raise awareness for bees as the world bee population decreases. The card has flower seeds in it and if you put it in a pot with soil and water it, the cards rots and the flowers start to grow!

The company also supports bee projects, for example the buying of new beehives or planting of flower beds so bees can find food. I haven't planted the seeds yet, so I don't know for sure if it works.

Time flies....

And here goes my A-Z resolution to post regularely... time just slipps away.

But today I have some free time left for blogging activities and with a little help of my friend auto-post, you'll get a few more updates this week.

Mother's Day

Today is Mother's Day! 

I'm not much for celebrating those holidays...

Is this something I would want? Or something I fear?

And it's also Sunday Stamps time - Theme this week: It is Mother's Day in the USA, and in other areas of the world. Let's share stamps of mothers and children; just children; just mothers (and Women's rights); children's art, even stamps that say LOVE.

I have not found any Mother's day stamps - in fact, I am wondering if there are such stamps.

Hockeybird

It's hockey time! Not only for those still fighting for the Cup, but also for those teams competing in the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Finland and Sweden. While I am writing this post, Finland is playing Canada and it looks as though it's not the Maple Leaves...

A-Z Reflection post

So, it's time for the reflection post!

What can I say? It definitely was a challenge to come up with a matching postcard for each letter. But the even bigger challenge was to visit as many blogs as possible. There are so many different blogs out there, with so many different themes.
There were also bloggers who did a theme, for example Australia, then my favorite, the Swedish course from co-host Tina, and castles, gardens, then Ach, du lieber's blog with her word creations - hilarious!
Others used the theme to eductae the readers and raise awareness. I learned that April was the Autism Awareness Month. What a wonderful way to use the challenge to spread the word about autism!
I am not sure if a theme makes the challenge harder or not, depends on the theme probably...So for next year I will be contemplating a theme. We will see :)

I realized that I really liked to read the comments and I loved to watch the stats on my blog go up! I tried to visit as many blogs as possible and leave a comment which was another challenge. What can you write if there is a blog you find strange or a bit creepy? I did not want to post something negative, but just saying "I visited" seemend not good enough. Maybe I have an answer to that next year...

I really enjoyed the Navigation buttons - it was fun to hop from one surprise to the next and all the blogs seem to have the same chance of being visited. The buttons, banners and all the stuff we could decorate our blogs with were fabulous! There were so many different versions, it was almost too hard to choose!

So for a month, I managed to post regularely, almost daily. I cheated a bit and used blogger's auto-post option, but that gave me the time to think about the different letters. I guess I will use this option again - I write the posts on the weekends when I have the time and there will be new posts posted automatically during the week! That makes blogging easy :-)

I hope to be a part of the challenge next year! And I can't wait to find out what the Post Challenge Challenge will be :) Last but not least a big thank you to the hosts and co-hosts who did their best to make April a fun month!

Sunday Stamps #69

It's Sunday Stamps time!

This week our theme is:
It will be just after Cinco de Mayo, and close to the anniversaries of the Liberation of Europe by the Allies in 1945. You could share a stamp from Mexico, or one commemorating the end of WWII, or the liberation of a non-European country, or expressing the theme of Liberation in general. Interpret this theme broadly.

I put the focus on the Liberation of Europe by the Allies with a stamp showing Sir Winston Churchill.
